Is your wall art really museum quality?

ABOUT OUR ART PRINTS

  • Every one of our fine art prints is produced and manufactured to archival grade, delivering incredible detail and resolution with a proprietary inkjet receptive coating that deliversoff-the-chart dmax and color gamut numerical readings. When cared for correctly they should remain bright and bold for 100 years or more.

  • We print exclusively on Breathing Color's Optica One acid-free papers, which help prevent yellowing over time. They are also fingerprint resistant, water resistant, instant drying and thick enough to help prevent cockling.

  • We print exclusively with Epson's museum-quality, UltraChrome HDX ink-jet technology, which produces a wider range of vivid colours, richer blacks and denser shadowed areas than Epson's HD-R ink-jets. The HDX ink-set combined with our Epson printers can achieve 99% accuracy of Pantone colours — the highest on the market.

  • Each Wanderlost & Found fine art print is produced on demand & ships globally from our location in Canada.

ABOUT OUR POSTERS

  • We print exclusively with Epson UltraChrome water based HDR ink-jet technology, too. It's fast drying and incorporates a resin-coating (RC) that supports maximum ink coverage with a high D-Max, producing intense, lifelike images that rival those of traditional silver halide output.

  • All our wall art is fingerprint resistant and thick enough to help prevent cockling.

  • Our wall art collection includes images and designs from 3 continents.

  • Each piece of Wanderlost & Found wall art is printed on demand & ships globally from our locations in the USA or EU.

What's so special about the papers you use?

ART PRINTS: Optica One™

Optica One™ is a 300gsm bright white, matte fine art paper with a luxuriously smooth surface ideal for high resolution photographic imagery. It is able to produce extremely crisp and accurate detail as a result of its leadership (when measured against other fine art papers on the market today) in tonal range value, line quality, line contrast, and raggedness.

With a proprietary inkjet receptive coating that delivers off-the-chart dmax and colour gamut numerical readings, Optica One™ represents the new age of fine art papers from Breathing Color™ and is unmistakably in a league of its own.

POSTERS: Epson Enhanced Matte or Premium Luster

Both of the durable Epson papers we use for our posters are designed to deliver archival quality images—an industry measurement of how long an image will last without its colour fading or changing tones.

The papers are acid-free, which helps protect against yellowing over time. If cared for correctly, your print should remain bright and vivid for 25 years or more.

Epson Ultra Premium Luster Photo Paper

Between a gloss and matte finish, this instant drying paper produces vivid, lifelike images that rival those of traditional silver halide prints. Premium Luster Photo Paper delivers highly saturated prints by offering maximum ink coverage and a high D-Max for true photographic reproductions. Its 10-mil RC base gives prints a photographic feel, and keeps the paper cockle-free.

Epson Enhanced Matte Paper

This bright white paper is perfect for images that do not require gloss. It yields highly saturated images, while maintaining excellent highlight and shadow detail.

POSTERS

• All Wanderlost & Found posters are printed with Epson UltraChrome™ water based HDR ink-jet technology—they're rich, dazzling, safe for kids and eco-friendly.

How should I care for my wall art?

HANDLING

• The poster is fingerprint resistant, but natural skin oils or other contaminants can transfer to the print. We recommend you wash and dry your hands before touching the photograph.

• Use both hands and support the back of the poster when picking it up.

• Never attempt to rub the surface of the image with your finger or fingernail as this could scratch the surface of the print.

• Do not write on the back of the poster. Inks and pens can penetrate the surface and damage the item. Use a soft pencil (B grade) instead.

CLEANING

• Dust with a clean, dry, soft rag.

• Never use cleaning products or water as this may permanently damage the print.

GLAZING

• Glazing is important to protect the print from various types of damage resulting from sources such as smoke, ozone, cooking fumes and human touch or abrasion.

• Glass is best. It is inexpensive, easy to cut, chemically inert, and resistant to scratches.

FRAMING

• Framing will provide protection by shielding against dirt, dust, pollution and temperature changes. NB: We strongly recommend acid-free frames, matts and other materials.

• We do not recommend that you use glues, sprays or adhesive tapes on your photographs to secure them in a frame. Archival quality corner mounts are the best method of securing your prints.

HANGING

• Unmounted prints and posters are especially vulnerable to crescent moon-shaped creases. Always lift the print by opposite corners (for example, top left and bottom right), letting the print gently bow or sag in the middle.

• Never hang your print in direct sunlight, regardless of the type of glazing or frame that's used. Colour photographs are more vulnerable and will fade faster than black-and-white.

• Avoid extreme fluctuations in moisture and temperature. Heat can speed up the degradation of the paper. And if humidity is high then be on the lookout for mould.

How should I light my wall art?

Proper lighting can add drama to your fine art print. The first and most important rule of lighting your prints is that the amount of light should be pleasing to your eye and it should create the drama and effect you desire.

Make every attempt to keep the amount of light even across the entire image. If that's not possible, make sure the centre of the image is well lit.

Direct lighting

• Direct lighting is most often used in homes and galleries.

• Direct lighting should be mounted high above the print so that it does not create glare at the viewing angle.

• A track lighting configuration is simple, elegant and easy to change should you decide to re-arrange your prints.

• We suggest low voltage MR-16 Halogen spot (not flood) bulbs which are available everywhere.A 50 Watt is sufficient if the fixture is 8 feet or less from the print.Use 75 Watt bulbs if the print is further away.

• Be sure to get fixtures which have a glass UV filter in front of the Halogen bulb. The UV filter reduces the high UV emission of the light to acceptable levels. The front glass also protects people from glass splinters in the unlikely event that the bulb were to fail.

• Use a sufficient number of lights on each print to achieve your own desired effect. Some recommendations for a starting point:One fixture is sufficient for 8"x10" to 16"x20" prints. Two fixtures are good for 16"x20" to 24"x30".

• Dimmers can be very helpful in creating just the right effect. Note that most low voltage lighting systems require a special electronic dimmer. Electronic dimmers are widely available from major manufacturers to match your existing wall switches.
